BROKEN CAPILLARY and SPIDER VEIN TREATMENTS
If you have been considering treatment for unsightly spider veins or broken capillaries, The Skin Institute of New Orleans offers therapy by dermatologist, Dr. Richard N. Sherman.
Treatment of spider veins of the legs is performed in office by Dr. Sherman using a procedure known as sclerotherapy. A concentrated saline solution is injected directly into the spider vein causing the leg vein to eventually collapse and fade away. Several treatment sessions may be required to achieve optimal results. Results may vary and sessions are generally planned at 4-6 week intervals, allowing time for complete recovery and response from treatment.
Small broken capillaries of the face, neck, upper chest and body, most commonly related to a history of sun exposure, respond well to laser treatments with either the Varilite or V-beam laser. Laser procedures are performed in office and may require several sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart for optimal results. Patients with rosacea and photo-aging may respond well to these laser treatments or may require a non-laser light source, known as Intense Pulse Light (IPL) therapy for background redness or flushing. Like laser procedures, IPL is performed in office, and may require several sessions spaced approximately 4-6 weeks apart.
