Sculptra Aesthetic is a three dimensional filler for global volumization of the face, addressing fat loss and redistribution which contribute to a generalized aged appearance. As the face ages, depressed or concave areas are found adjacent to rounded or convex areas. The skin develops a wavy or undulating appearance, replacing the full and contoured appearance we associate with the bloom of youth. The injectible Sculptra blends the depressed or concave areas into the more prominent rounded or convex areas to reestablish three dimensional volume while maintaining facial contour.
Sculptra Aesthetic contains poly-L-lactic acid, which stimulates your body's fibroblasts to produce new collagen. With gradual production of new collagen, the facial skin looks and feels more youthful. Multiple treatment sessions are typically required and volume at each session may vary depending on patient response. On average, most cosmetic patients require at least 2 to 3 sessions, usually spaced 8 weeks apart. Although the process is gradual and multiple sessions are required, the effect is typically sustained for at least 2 years. After this time, should the effect diminish, a touch-up session may be performed.
