Chemical peels are a very popular way to improve the appearance of your skin and restore a more youthful complexion.
During this skin care procedure a chemical solution is applied to the skin which causes the most superficial skin layer(s) to separate and gradually peel off, revealing smoother, softer and, in some cases, a more uniform or even skin tone. Fine lines and wrinkles may appear less obvious with collagen stimulation from repeated chemical peels. Lighter chemical peels may be repeated at 4-6 week intervals to achieve the desired effect.
More aggressive chemical peels are available for patients with moderate to severe sun damage. This type peel is commonly performed using trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and may be performed once or twice yearly to combat and reverse signs of more extreme sun damage.
